Shipping Information

Broadened Horizons, Inc. works very hard to ensure complete customer satisfaction around the globe. If you have a problem with any product delivered or service rendered, please contact us and we will do our best to resolve it.

Broadened Horizons ships WORLDWIDE directly from Maple Grove, Minnesota throughout the United States including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and most international destinations including Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Mexico, Brazil, all member states of the European Union, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and most other Asian countries. Only exceptions would be locations not serviced by FedEx, DHL, or UPS such as in time of war. Broadened Horizons recommends Bongo International freight forwarding services.

Tax Exemption

Within the United States, sales taxes are only required on orders shipped within Minnesota*. Internationally, almost all of Broadened Horizons products are exempt from tax including VAT, GST, HST in most countries under customs harmonization code 9817.00.96 "Articles specially designed or adapted for the use or benefit of the blind or physically handicapped persons". However, Broadened Horizons has no influence on your country's customs officials if they decide a product does not qualify under HS Code 9817.0 0.96. Customer is responsible for any import duties or taxes imposed by your country. If you are charged such fees, ask about possible exemption status as you may qualify for a refund.

Carriers and Transit Times

Broadened Horizons utilizes FedEx primarily, and USPS Priority Mail for some smaller packages unless otherwise requested by the customer. FedEx provides the most cost-effective, timely, reliable, and securely insured delivery services for our customer's important, high-value assistive technology solutions. The United States Postal Service (USPS) provides the Very timely and cost-effective results for smaller packages such as replacement parts.

Most orders received by 12 p.m. are packaged that same day from inventory and are picked up by FedEx that evening or USPS the following morning. More complex orders may require some final assembly, integration, or testing so please allow us a few business days to properly to properly prepare your unique solution. If there are any expected delays an estimated ship date will be provided whenever possible.

As is customary with most businesses, all shipments are FOB origin Maple Grove, Minnesota, USA**. (FOB origin means "Freight on Board origin" or that possession transfers from Broadened Horizons, Inc. to you the customer when the package is accepted into shipment by the shipping provider such as USPS, FedEx, UPS, or DHL. "FOB origin" indicates the buyer pays shipping cost, and takes responsibility for the goods when the goods leave the seller's, or seller partner's premises.)

USPS does not offer insurance over $500 except in special cases. If you require more than $500 insurance, please choose FedEx.

Example: A package shipped via FedEx Ground on Monday with a transit schedule of 2 business days, (not including the day the package is shipped) would be expected for delivery on Wednesday. A package shipped on Friday with a 2-day transit schedule would be expected for delivery the following Tuesday.

Please note:

The FedEx Ground Transit Times map above is a general representation of transit times for FedEx Ground shipments to commercial destinations. In limited areas, transit times may differ between shipments to commercial and residential destinations. For specific transit time information from one ZIP/Postal code to another, please go to Get Rates & Transit Times under the Ship tab on fedex.com.
FedEx Ground business days are Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). FedEx Home Delivery business days are Tuesday through Saturday (excluding holidays).

USPS - United States Postal Service

International Shipments USPS shipments are transferred to customs in your local country and into your local postal system. Delivery Confirmation information is limited to when the shipment is sent, received into customs, and usually though not always delivered. Very rarely are shipments damaged or go missing, but if you lack confidence in your nation's postal system, be sure to specify an insured and trackable shipping methods such as FedEx, UPS, or DHL though these providers typically are about double the cost.

Transit times are estimates since shipments are sometimes delayed during processing in customs, though this is usually not for more than a few days.
