Completely Customizable, Intuitive Programming

No computer needed to program the Head Gamer!  SIMPLICITY is far more difficult to achieve than COMPLEXITY!  In this case it took the better part of a year of trial and error backed by our enthusiastic first-generation Ultimate Arcade Customers, 13 years of experience working in alternative user interface design, testing, and quality verification, all reinforced by necessity as a quadriplegic myself for complete interaction without any hand or finger dexterity. Of course design is only one step, and the Head Gamer would not have been possible without the assistance of a phenomenal implementation partner to turn these ideas into a physical PCB board with embedded code!

ANY Button or function including Joysticks, built-in Sip & Puff Hands-Free Switches, 4 external auxiliary ability switch ports, and external auxiliary analog joystick ports can be remapped to any other button, sip, puff, or external ability switch.

Remap any function to any other button, sip, puff, or external ability switch in normal momentary mode:

  1. Push the program button so the status light is lit steady red.
  2. Push the button corresponding to the label of the function that you wish to utilize.
  3. Push and release the button, sip, puff, or external switch of the new location where you would like the previously selected function to move to.

Set any button, sip, puff, or external ability switch to latching mode:

[Latching Mode means the button holds itself down, just tap to activate and tap again to release.  This mode is perfect for holding down the gas in racing games or quickly zooming in the scope in a first-person shooter]

  1. Push the program button so the status light is lit steady red.
  2. Push the button corresponding to the label of the function that you wish to utilize.
  3. Push and HOLD the button, sip, puff, or external switch of the new location where you would like the previously selected function to move to for 3-4 seconds When the red status light begins flashing slowly this means latching mode is now set and you may release the button or other function.
NOTE:   If you do not wish to remap the function simply use the same button, sip, puff, or external switch for steps 2 and 3.

Adjustable Speed Rapid Fire on ANY Button, Sip, Puff, or External Ability Switch

  1. Push the program button so the status light is lit steady red.
  2. Push the button corresponding to the label of the function that you wish to utilize.
  3. Push and HOLD  the button, sip, puff, or external switch of the new location you would like the previously selected function to move to for approximately 6-10 seconds   When the red status light begins flashing rapidly after 6-10 seconds release the button.
NOTE:   If you do not wish to remap the function simply use the same button, sip, puff, or external switch for steps 2 and 3.
  4.  Adjust the rapid fire speed by pushing up or down on the left or right analog joystick.  When the joystick is released the status light will blink at a speed corresponding to how fast the rapid fire will fire.  The status light will NOT change until the joystick is released.
  5. Push the button you pressed in step 3 to lock in your setting.

Swap the Left and Right Joysticks (Including External Joysticks)

This allows the left-hand joystick to operate as the right-hand joystick and vice versa.

  1. Push the program button so the status light is lit steady red.
  2. Push both joysticks simultaneously towards each other (towards the L1 & R1 button labels) and HOLD for 5-8 seconds until the red status light goes out.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to reverse the change.

Adjust Joystick Sensitivity

  2. Push and hold the select button for 3 seconds to adjust the left joystick (the status light will begin flashing).
  3. Push and hold the start button for 3 seconds to adjust the right joystick. (the status light will begin flashing).
  4. When the joystick is released the status light will blink at a speed corresponding to the sensitivity of the joystick:
<> Faster blinking = higher sensitivity.
NOTE: The status light will NOT change until the joystick is released.
  5. To set maximum sensitivity hold the joystick in the up position for 5 seconds.  The joystick sensitivity will increase to maximum sensitivity [50% joystick travel = 100% output]
  6. To set minimum sensitivity hold the joystick in the down position for 5 seconds.  The joystick sensitivity will decrease to minimum sensitivity [100% joystick travel = 50% output]
  7. Press either the select button or the start button to lock in the new settings dependig on which joystick you are adjusting (see steps 2 and 3).

This is useful if the user wishes to rotate the Ultimate Arcade (both halves may be rotated independantly of one another).

  1. Push the program button so the status light is lit steady red.
  2. Push and hold the select button for 3 seconds to adjust the left joystick (the status light will begin flashing).
  3. Push and hold the start button for 3 seconds to adjust the  right joystick. (the status light will begin flashing).

  6. Repeat steps 1-5 to revert the joystick to its origional orientation.

Mouse Controller Mode

The Ultimate Arcade 2 will be simultaneously recognized as a game controller and a Human Interface Device (HID) mouse controller on Windows, OSX, Linux, and Android.  This allows the Ultimate Arcade 2 to support games that require or have improved gameplay using a mouse.

  • Mouse Mode is ENABLED in factory default state on the right analog joystick (and any external right analog joystick). Mouse Mode does not affect gameplay on PS3/Xbox 360.  You will notice it immediately when plugging the Ultimate Arcade 2 USB cable into a personal computer.
  • Right Analog Joystick = Mouse Cursor Movement (or swap the left & right analog joysticks to have mouse control on the left joystick)
  • L2 Button = Mouse Left Click or Puff
  • R2 Button = Mouse Right Click or Sip
  • R3 Button = Mouse Middle Click (Drag by setting R3 to Latching Mode)

To Enable or Disable Mouse Mode

  1. Push the program button so the status light is lit steady red.
  2. Push and HOLD the home button for 5 seconds until the status light goes out.

Resetting the Ultimate Arcade:

Reset Individual Buttons

This works by remapping the button back to itself.

  1. Push the program button so the status light is lit steady red.
  2. Push the button, sip, puff, or external switch you wish to reset.
  3. Push the button, sip, puff, or external switch you pressed in step 2 a second time.

Reset the Ultimate Arcade to Factory Default:

  1. Push and HOLD the program button for 10 seconds until the status light begins flashing.
  2. Release the program button.
  3. Push and HOLD the program button a second time for an additional 10 Seconds until the status light stops flashing.
