Designed by Broadened Horizons from the chip level up and custom manufactured in-house with 2 large analog arcade joysticks, and 18 extra-large accessible arcade buttons + internally integrated Sip-n-Puff or Bite Handsfree Switches allowing you to zoom in and fire a gun without ever taking your hands off the joysticks!

The Ultimate Arcade 2 is designed by a quadriplegic for quadriplegics. .  It represents the culmination of Broadened Horizons unique experience empowering individuals with upper extremity limitations to play 100% of the games across all platforms WITHOUT limitations. Our mantra: you can go anonymously online and compete as an equal and NO ONE knows your disabled until you whoop their butt and decide to brag that your fingers are completely nonfunctional!

This revolutionary game controller was a huge development effort incorporating everything we wanted to improve upon since the version 1 Ultimate Arcade arrived on the scene in 2009. Even the ergonomic's were considered so the controller can comfortably sit on your lap with the joysticks straight out in front of your shoulders reducing the hunch over affect and resulting back pain quads often experience with limited muscles in the upper back, chest.

100% Game Compatibility across EVERY Gaming Platform:

  • Can be used control other systems with a variety of button, and joystick inputs such as RC Cars, Boats, & Airplanes - requires custom integrated adapter (Contact Us)

Incredible Features include:

  • Flip the Left Joystick to the right and the right Joystick to the left.  Perfect for individuals who have better, more dominant control in one arm over the other
  • Increase or Decrease the sensitivity of the Left or Right joystick.  Phenomenally improves gameplay when all movement is coming from one's shoulders.  For Example Grand Tourismo racing features extremely sensitive proportional joystick movements of your thumbtip to control steering making fine control for a quadriplegic extremely difficult and crashing frequent.  By reducing the sensitivity allows gamecontroller to adapt the users unique abilities to the game designers intent.  Alternatively increased sensitivity works well when controlling joystick with one's mouth reducing head movement.
  • 100% Remapping of ANY Button, integrated Sip-n-Puff, or External Ability Switches. No software or other complexities such as plugging into a PC.  Simply (1) push the program button followed by (2) the button you want to move, followed by (3) the button location where you would like to move it to.  Simple and intuitive creation of a custom layout exactly to your preferences and abilities even during the middle of gameplay.
  • Latching Mode can be assigned to ANY Button, integrated Sip-n-Puff, or External Ability Switches. Latching Mode causes the button to function a light switch , it holds itself down until you press it again to release. Invaluable for holding down the gas in a racing game or zooming the scope in a first-person shooter.
  • Adjustable Speed Rapid Fire on ANY Button, integrated Sip-n-Puff, or External Ability Switches allows you to simply hold down a button instead of having to push it repeatedly very fast which many individuals using this controller would be unable to do quickly.
  • Internally integrated hands-free Sip-n-Puff or Bite switches that can be assigned to ANY button.  As an example, when your hands are busy operating the joysticks you can still fire the gun hands-free.
  • 2 additional trigger buttons added below the left analog joystick so when your hand is occupied moving the right joystick to aim the gun in a first-person shooter your left-hand can be used to fire the gun or zoom in the scope.
  • Support for Versatility external analog joysticks ideal for individuals with good movement only in 1 arm, allowing the second joystick to be controlled with mouth, or chin, foot, or even Head Motion!  External joysticks also can be programmed with adjustable sensitivity or foot from left to right same as internal joysticks.
  • Jacks for up to 4 additional ability switches over and above the integrated Sip-n-Puff switches.  Perfect for foot pedals for gas and brake for individuals limited by cerebral palsy with some leg movement, or the Dual Sensor Switches on a headband to control the game by winking your eyes, raising an eyebrow, or the flick of any other body movement!
  • Firmware can be reprogrammed/flashed by plugging the Ultimate Arcade into a computer.  This allows us to reprogram them if there was a problem ever discovered, or a compatibility issue with new firmware on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 which was something I encountered on the PlayStation 3 firmware upgrade to version 3.5.
  • Auxiliary 25-pin port with full support for custom solutions, retro gaming back to the original Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega, Sega Genesis, RC Remote Control Vehicles, Quadcopters, etc. or even future compatibility required integration to new unanticipated systems.

Completely Customizable, Intuitive 1 Button Programming

No computer needed!  SIMPLICITY is far more difficult to achieve than COMPLEXITY!  In this case it took the better part of a year of trial and error backed by our enthusiastic first-generation Ultimate Arcade Customers, 13 years of experience working in alternative user interface design, testing, and quality verification, all reinforced by necessity as a quadriplegic myself for complete interaction without any hand or finger dexterity using only a knuckle. Of course design is only one step, and the Ultimate Arcade 2 would not have been possible without the assistance of a phenomenal implementation partner to turn these ideas into a physical PCB board with embedded code!

ANY Button or function including Joysticks, built-in Sip & Puff Hands-Free Switches, 4 external auxiliary Ability Switch ports, and external auxiliary analog joystick ports can be:

Remap to ANY other Button, Sip, Puff, or External Ability Switch in normal momentary mode

  1. Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
  2. Push the button corresponding to the LABEL of the function that you wish to utilize.
  3. Push and RELEASE the button (or sip/puff) of the new location where you would like the previously selected function to move to.

Latching Mode Assigned to ANY Button, Sip, Puff, or External Ability Switch

[Latching Mode means the button holds itself down, just tap to activate and tap again to release.  Perfect for gas in racing games (just focus on the brakes) or zooming in the scope in a first-person shooter]

3.a.   Push and HOLD for approximately 3-4 seconds the button (or sip/puff/external switch) of the new location where you would like the previously selected function to move to with LATCHING MODE Set.  When the red STATUS LED begins flashing slowly after 3-4 seconds release. (Note: 2nd Location button could be the SAME as the 1st Label button.)

Adjustable Speed Rapid Fire on ANY Button, Sip, Puff, or External Ability Switch

3.b.  Push and HOLD for approximately 6-10 seconds the button (or sip/puff/external switch) of the new location where you would like the previously selected function to move to in RAPID FIRE Mode. When the red STATUS LED begins flashing more quickly after 6-8 seconds release. (Note: 2nd Location button could be the SAME as the 1st Label button.)

4.     Adjust the RAPID FIRE SPEED by pushing up or down on the left or right analog joysticks (or external joysticks).  You may need to hold joystick up or down for 2 to 3 seconds to realize a change in speed of the rapid fire.  When you release the joystick, the LED will be blinking at a particular speed corresponding to how fast the rapid fire will fire. [The speed of status LED flashing while you are moving the joystick does not accurately correspond to the resulting rapid fire speed.  Release to observe.] If you hold up on the joystick for 5 to 10 seconds the rapid fire will increase so fast that when you release the joystick it will seem almost solid.

Flip Joysticks from Left to Right (including External Joysticks)

  1. Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
  2. Push both JOYSTICKS towards each other (or towards the L1 & R1 button labels) and HOLD for 5-8 seconds until red STATUS LED goes out.
  3. The left joystick will now be on your right and the right joystick function will now be on your left.  Ideal for users who are stronger or have better control in one arm or the other depending on the desired gameplay.

Adjust Joystick Sensitivity

  1. Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
  2. Push and HOLD for 3 seconds until STATUS LED begins flashing: either SELECT/BACK button for left joystick, or START button for right joystick.
  3. Adjust the JOYSTICK SENSITIVITY by pushing up or down on the left or right analog joysticks (or external joysticks).  You may need to hold joystick up or down for 2 to 3 seconds to realize a change in speed of the status LED blinks.  When you release the joystick, the LED will be blinking at a particular speed corresponding to the joystick sensitivity. [The speed of status LED flashing while you are moving the joystick does not accurately correspond to the resulting sensitivity until you release to observe.]
  4. If you hold up on the joystick for 5 to 10 seconds the joystick sensitivity will INCREASE to MAXIMUM sensitivity [50% joystick throw = 100% output]
  5. If you hold down on the joystick for 5 to 10 seconds the joystick sensitivity will DECREASE to MINIMUM sensitivity [100% joystick throat = 50% output]
  6. Tap either SELECT/BACK or START button to complete.

Flip Joystick Vertical or Horizontal Axis

Allows controller to be rotated in any position or even turned backwards if user prefers joysticks to be towards centers and buttons to outsides or vice versa. Provides support for this type of gameplay based on personal preference including merger games that do not support controller customization.

  1. Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
  2. Push and HOLD for 3 seconds until STATUS LED begins flashing: either SELECT/BACK button for left joystick, or START button for right joystick.
  3. Push D-Pad Up or Down (large gray buttons on left side) to flip Vertical Axis, or push D-Pad Left or Right to flip Horizontal Axis
  4. Tap either SELECT/BACK or START button to complete.

Mouse Controller Mode

The Ultimate Arcade 2 will be simultaneously recognized as a game controller and Human Interface Device (HID) Mouse controller on Windows, OSX, Linux, and even Android, doubling as a Computer Access device.  Simultaneously the Ultimate Arcade 2 supports first-person shooter and similar games that require or have improved gameplay using a mouse.

  • Mouse Mode is ENABLED in factory default state on the RIGHT ANALOG JOYSTICK (and external right analog joystick). Mouse Mode does not affect gameplay on PS3/Xbox 360.  You will notice it immediately when plugging the Ultimate Arcade 2 USB cable into a personal computer.
  • Right Analog Joystick = Mouse Cursor Movement (or Flip Left & Right analog joysticks to have most cursor control on left joystick)
  • L2 Button = Mouse Left Click or Puff
  • R2 Button = Mouse Right Click or Sip
  • R3 Button = Mouse Middle Click (Drag with GimpGear LeftLock Utility, or simply program R3 to Latching Mode)

To Enable or Disable Mouse Mode

  1. Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
  2. Push and HOLD the HOME button for 5 seconds until the STATUS LED light goes out.

Reset Back to Factory Defaults

IMPORTANT: You can reset any individual button back to its normal momentary function as labeled without resetting the entire controller by simply REMAPPING IT BACK TO ITSELF. Push the PROGRAM button then push the desired button twice.

  1. Push and HOLD the PROGRAM button for 10 seconds until the STATUS LED light begins flashing then RELEASE.
  2. Push and HOLD the PROGRAM button a SECOND TIME for an additional 10 Seconds until the STATUS LED light stops flashing.
