Completely Customizable, Intuitive 1 Button Programming
No computer needed! SIMPLICITY is far more difficult to achieve than COMPLEXITY! In this case it took the better part of a year of trial and error backed by our enthusiastic customers using the first three generations of Versatility controllers, 13 years of experience working in alternative user interface design, testing, and quality verification, all reinforced by necessity as a quadriplegic myself for complete interaction without any hand or finger dexterity using only a knuckle. Of course design is only one step, and the Versatility v4 Programmable would not have been possible without the assistance of a phenomenal implementation partner to turn these ideas into a physical PCB board with embedded code!
ANY Button or function including Joysticks, built-in Sip & Puff Hands-Free Switches, 4 external auxiliary Ability Switch ports, and external auxiliary analog joystick ports can be:
Remap to ANY other Button, Sip, Puff, or External Ability Switch in normal momentary mode
Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
Push the button corresponding to the LABEL of the function that you wish to utilize.
Push and RELEASE the button (or sip/puff) of the new location where you would like the previously selected function to move to.
Latching Mode Assigned to ANY Button, Sip, Puff, or External Ability Switch
[Latching Mode means the button holds itself down, just tap to activate and tap again to release. Perfect for gas in racing games (just focus on the brakes) or zooming in the scope in a first-person shooter]
3.a. Push and HOLD for approximately 3-4 seconds the button (or sip/puff/external switch) of the new location where you would like the previously selected function to move to with LATCHING MODE Set. When the red STATUS LED begins flashing slowly after 3-4 seconds release. (Note: 2nd Location button could be the SAME as the 1st Label button.)
Adjustable Speed Rapid Fire on ANY Button, Sip, Puff, or External Ability Switch
3.b. Push and HOLD for approximately 6-10 seconds the button (or sip/puff/external switch) of the new location where you would like the previously selected function to move to in RAPID FIRE Mode. When the red STATUS LED begins flashing more quickly after 6-8 seconds release. (Note: 2nd Location button could be the SAME as the 1st Label button.)
4. Adjust the RAPID FIRE SPEED by pushing up or down on the left or right analog joysticks (or external joysticks). You may need to hold joystick up or down for 2 to 3 seconds to realize a change in speed of the rapid fire. When you release the joystick , the LED will be blinking at a particular speed corresponding to how fast the rapid fire will fire. [The speed of status LED flashing while you are moving the joystick does not accurately correspond to the resulting rapid fire speed. Release to observe.] If you hold up on the joystick for 5 to 10 seconds the rapid fire will increase so fast that when you release the joystick it will seem almost solid.
Flip Joysticks from Left to Right (including External Joysticks)
Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
Push both JOYSTICKS towards each other (or towards the L1 & R1 button labels) and HOLD for 5-8 seconds until red STATUS LED goes out.
The left joystick will now be on your right and the right joystick function will now be on your left. Ideal for users who are stronger or have better control in one arm or the other depending on the desired gameplay.
Adjust Joystick Sensitivity
Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
Push and HOLD for 3 seconds until STATUS LED begins flashing: either SELECT/BACK button for left joystick, or START button for right joystick.
Adjust the JOYSTICK SENSITIVITY by pushing up or down on the left or right analog joysticks (or external joysticks). You may need to hold joystick up or down for 2 to 3 seconds to realize a change in speed of the status LED blinks. When you release the joystick , the LED will be blinking at a particular speed corresponding to the joystick sensitivity. [The speed of status LED flashing while you are moving the joystick does not accurately correspond to the resulting sensitivity until you release to observe.]
If you hold up on the joystick for 5 to 10 seconds the joystick sensitivity will INCREASE to MAXIMUM sensitivity [50% joystick throw = 100% output]
If you hold down on the joystick for 5 to 10 seconds the joystick sensitivity will DECREASE to MINIMUM sensitivity [100% joystick throat = 50% output]
Tap either SELECT/BACK or START button to complete.
Flip Joystick Vertical or Horizontal Axis
Allows controller to be rotated in any position or even turned backwards if user prefers joysticks to be towards centers and buttons to outsides or vice versa. Provides support for this type of gameplay based on personal preference including merger games that do not support controller customization.
Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
Push and HOLD for 3 seconds until STATUS LED begins flashing: either SELECT/BACK button for left joystick, or START button for right joystick.
Push D-Pad Up or Down (large gray buttons on left side) to flip Vertical Axis, or push D-Pad Left or Right to flip Horizontal Axis
Tap either SELECT/BACK or START button to complete.
Mouse Controller Mode
The Ultimate Arcade 2 will be simultaneously recognized as a game controller and Human Interface Device (HID) Mouse controller on Windows, OSX, Linux, and even Android, doubling as a Computer Access device. Simultaneously the Ultimate Arcade 2 supports first-person shooter and similar games that require or have improved gameplay using a mouse.
Mouse Mode is ENABLED in factory default state on the RIGHT ANALOG JOYSTICK (and external right analog joystick). Mouse Mode does not affect gameplay on PS3/Xbox 360. You will notice it immediately when plugging the Ultimate Arcade 2 USB cable into a personal computer.
Right Analog Joystick = Mouse Cursor Movement (or Flip Left & Right analog joysticks to have most cursor control on left joystick)
L2 Button = Mouse Left Click or Puff
R2 Button = Mouse Right Click or Sip
R3 Button = Mouse Middle Click (Drag with GimpGear LeftLock Utility, or simply program R3 to Latching Mode)
To Enable or Disable Mouse Mode
Push the PROGRAM button so the STATUS LED light is lit RED.
Push and HOLD the HOME button for 5 seconds until the STATUS LED light goes out.
Reset Back to Factory Defaults
IMPORTANT : You can reset any individual button back to its normal momentary function as labeled without resetting the entire controller by simply REMAPPING IT BACK TO ITSELF . Push the PROGRAM button then push the desired button twice.
Push and HOLD the PROGRAM button for 10 seconds until the STATUS LED light begins flashing then RELEASE.
Push and HOLD the PROGRAM button a SECOND TIME for an additional 10 Seconds until the STATUS LED light stops flashing.
